Is it an inkjet cartridge or a toner cartridge

Many people get confused as to what cartridge they are actually using. Is it an inkjet cartridge or a toner cartridge?

Well quite simply the large heavy printer cartridges are toners, (sometimes called laser cartridges) these are used mainly, but not always, by businesses and schools etc. They are usually black plastic and contain a black carbon-like dust. Inkjet cartridges are much smaller and are generally found in homes or in your desk top printer. These contain a wet ink.

We only pay for ‘original’ inkjet cartridges.(known as virgin) These are cartridges that have not been previously remanufactured or refilled before. Original printer cartridges will be clearly marked with the manufacturers logo and cartridge number, for instance HP, Lexmark, Canon etc.

Remanufactured or refilled cartridges (known as non virgin) generally have stickers or a label covering the original logo’s which make them easy to spot.

Look closey, by law remanufactures have to make it clear that it has been refilled or manufactured. If it has a brand name that is not widely recognised chances are it is not an original cartridge. We do not accept these under our scheme. Other cartridges we don’t accept are All Toner Cartridges, Epson & Canon ink tanks.

Ink-tanks are inkjet cartridges that do not have a printhead or copper circuitry attached to the actual cartridge.
